Hai Phong city lies in the North–East sea region of Vietnam, 120km away from Hanoi. Hai Phong is the third largest city of Vietnam, and owns the biggest seaport of the North region. With natural area of 1,519 km2 including 2 islands, Cat Hai and Bach Long Vi, Hai Phong stays in the Red River Delta region with average height of 0.7 – 1.7m above sea level.
Natural resources: + Land resources: Hai Phong has a total area of 1,527.4 km2, in which area of mainland is 1,208.49 km2. + Forest resources: In Cat Ba, there is a primeval forest area, which is recognized a World Biosphere Reserve. + Water resources: All rivers in Hai Phong are tributaries of Thai Binh River, which flows into the Gulf of Tonkin. + Marine resources: Hai Phong has a long coastline of 125km including the islands off the coast, bringing great benefit of sea port, which contributes to develop Hai Phong port to become an international gateway port of the North and whole the country. + Mineral sources: Limestone is crucial mineral of Hai Phong, especially there is limestone mine in Thuy Nguyen.
Traffic: + Roadway: Hai Phong is linked with other cities and provinces by such key roads as: *Highway 5A (running for 29 km in the city and running for 102 km Ha Noi-Hai Duong-Hai Phong) *Ha Noi – Hai Phong expressway (5B): running for 105.5 km connecting Hanoi to Haiphong, The West end of the expressway is at the north of Thanh Tri Bridge in Hanoi and the East end at Dinh Vu Dike in Haiphong. *National Road 10: linking Haiphong to the provinces of Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa. The length of the road is 151km *National Road 37: the length is 20.1 km * Quang Ninh - Hai Phong - Ninh Binh coastal Highway: the length of the road in the city is 43.8 km + Railway: Hai Phong has a railroad between Hanoi - Hai Phong, used for transporting passengers and cargo. This 102km-long railroad running from Gia Lam station to Hai Phong station, in parallel with Highway #5. Besides that, in the city there are 3 specialized branches of railway connecting from Ha Noi – Hai Phong to wharves along Cam river (Vat Cach to Chua Ve river port)
Power system: 4 220/110 KV power stations 23 110/22 KV power stations The electricity price is applied to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Decision No.2256/QĐ-BCT dated March 12th 2015, new price has been applied since March 16th 2015
Water system: 9 water manufacturers with capacity of 249,400 m3/ng.đ. Satisfy 86,6% demand of consuming water.
GDP growth rate 2021: 12.38%
Up to now, Hai Phong has 915 FDI projects with the total investment capital is about 24 billion US dollars.
