Ha Nam is located on south of Red River Delta, southern gateway of Ha Noi. It shares border with Hung Yen provinces on the north, Hoa Binh Province on the west, Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh provinces on the south and south-east.
Natural resources: Ha Nam has 860.5 km2 of natural land located in the low part of the Red river delta. The rich soil is suitable for short-term industrial crops and fruit trees. The province is also suitable for developing aquaculture and breeding of waterfowls. In terms of minerals, limestone is the major mineral found in Ha Nam with a large volume of over 7 billion m3 which allows it to become one of the large construction material production centers in the Northern delta. Travel resources: Ha Nam has many famous sceneries such as a series of 5 grandiose caves, Tam Chuc Ba Sao lake complex, Luon cave etc. Moreover, Ha Nam also attracts tourists for the reason of having its own cultural and historical relics and festivals such as Tran Thuong temple, Ba Danh pogada, Chau pagoda and so on.
Traffic: Transport system including roads, railway and waterway was improved to support well economic, cultural and social exchanges between Ha Nam and other provinces.
Power system: The system has extended to almost all communes. Power from 220Kv and 110Kv National electricity grid has supplied all households, enterprises and State bodies in Phu Ly town and districts via 5 substations with the total capacity of 215MW. All of province is supplied with power through 220Kv line, 110Kv line, 35Kv line, 22Kv line, 10Kv line, 6Kv line and 0.4Kv.
Water system: The whole water supply system with the capacity of 38,200m3/day supplies residential and industrial areas. Among the system, there are 2 factories in Phu Ly city with the current capacity of 25,000m3/day planned to expand to supply 40,000m3 water per day. Ha Nam is planning to build Tan Tao clean water factory with the capacity of 100,000m3/day located in Duy Tien district.
Post and Telecommunication Systems: There is a post office system in the province including a post office in Phu Ly town, 5 post offices in districts, 40 commune post offices and nearly 100 commune post points. The telephone network covers all wards/communes, state administrative and economic units. It is convenient to have access to post and telecommunication services nationwide and worldwide from the province. Telecommunications infrastructure was upgraded by VNPT and Viettel who installed optical fibers and high-speed transfer.
GDP growth rate 2021: 8.85%
Up to now, Ha Nam has 361 FDI projects with the total investment capital is about 4.9 billion US dollars.
