Vietnam has 63 provinces and cities with a total area of 331,210 km2. It has a population of 96.7 million, among them 55.1 million are in working age. The average income per capita is 2,540 USD.
By the end of July 2017, Vietnam has 328 Industrial Parks and Processing Zones with the total area of 96.3 thousand hectares, of which 223 Industrial Parks were put into operation and the rest of 105 Industrial Parks is in the process of compensation and land clearance. The occupancy rate of Industrial Parks was 51.5%, especially those were put into operation reach almost 73%. There ar total 16 coastal economic zones with the total area of land and water surface of approximately 815 thousand hectares. Among them, there are 36 Industrial Parks and non-tarrif areas with the total area of 16.1 thousand hectares. The total ready-to-rent area of industrial lands is 7.8 thousand hectares, accounting for 48% of total land area.
In terms of investment attraction, by the end of July 2017, the whole areas of Industrial Parks, Processing Zones, and Economic Zones have attracted:
7,757 foreign investment projects with total registered capital of $163.9 billion. The disbursement rate was about 58%.
8,052 domestic investment projects with the total registered capital of $1,830.7 billion. The disbursement rate was about 42%.
Additionally, the country has three national hi-tech parks in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh city, namely: Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (1,586 ha), Da Nang Hi-Tech Park (1,129.76 ha), and Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park (913 ha). At present, the three said hi-tech parks have attracted 218 investment projects with total registered capital of nearly $10 billion, creating jobs for about 50,000 workers.
Furthermore, the country also has an additional of 625 Industrial Clusters with a total industrial area of 19,000 hectares, attracting more than 10,000 investment projects, with the total registered capital of VND 137,000 billion, creating jobs for about 538,000 employees.
