Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City Port ranked 22nd, with a throughput of more than 9.1 million TEUs in 2024, an increase of 23.8 percent compared to 2023. With this result, the port rose three places compared to the 2024 ranking.

Hai Phong Port held the 29th position, up four places from 2024, with a throughput of about 7.1 million TEUs in 2024, marking a 12.8 percent increase over 2023.

Meanwhile, Cai Mep Port, also in Ho Chi Minh City, with over 7 million TEUs handled in 2024 (a 29.2 percent increase compared to 2023), climbed to the 30th position, up four places from the 2024 ranking.

According to Lloyd's List, Viet Nam's maritime transport sector witnessed a sharp surge in port cargo throughput over the past year.

Viet Nam, along with India and Turkey, was highlighted as an emerging market that has capitalized on supply chain restructuring and regional trade agreements.

These are also Viet Nam's three largest seaports, classified as special-grade ports. Among them, Hai Phong Port and Cai Mep Port are designated as gateway ports combined with international transshipment functions, capable of accommodating large container vessels, thereby reducing logistics costs.

Recently, these three ports were also ranked among the world's top 50 container ports by volume in 2024 by DynaLiners Millionaires. The achievement of these major ports placed Viet Nam 6th globally among countries with the highest container throughput.
