Dutch high-tech company VDL to develop semiconductor factory in Vietnam
VDL ETG, the high-tech arm of VDL Groep, ratified a cooperation agreement with Frasers Property on March 19 for the construction of a new facility to make semiconductor manufacturing components in Vietnam.
The deal was agreed during a Dutch trade mission's visit to Vietnam. VDL is a provider of advanced technology equipment for the semiconductor, analytical, and health industries.
Construction of the new VDL factory in the northeast of Vietnam will start soon. The schedule is for the first modules to leave the new plant to supply international customers by the end of the first quarter or beginning of the second quarter in 2025.
VDL Groep's overall growth strategy covers Europe, America, and Asia. VDL's global customers are asking for even better global coverage, with local production for local markets. Being able to deliver anywhere is a major advantage for VDL's existing and new customers.
VDL is therefore also investing on all three of these continents, the majority in Europe. These investments are aimed at maintaining and strengthening employment in the current plants. VDL ETG also has locations in Asia in Singapore and Suzhou (China).
The expansion in the Southeast Asian nation is part of VDL’s global growth strategy. About 60 staff will initially join VDL ETG in Vietnam.
