Denmark seeks stronger high-tech cooperation amid Vietnam's agricultural expansion

The assessment was highlighted at a seminar titled "Smart Production, Sustainable Future: Danish Agri-Food Technology for Vietnam," held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 29.

Mathias Sandholt Knauf from the Danish Agriculture and Food Council said bilateral cooperation potential concentrates on breeding stock, feed efficiency, biological solutions, feed additives, livestock equipment, automated feeding systems, and slaughterhouse technologies.

Knauf noted that Vietnam is undergoing rapid industrialization in agriculture and food production, while Denmark brings decades of experience in the sector. Consequently, businesses from both countries can strengthen cooperation across the entire value chain to improve resource efficiency.

Knauf added that Vietnam currently represents a highly attractive market for Danish companies in the agri-food sector. He observed that the market is growing strongly alongside clear policy and business objectives to increase domestic agricultural and food production.

Furthermore, the ongoing modernization and shift toward larger-scale farming models and integrated enterprises offer numerous areas where Danish companies can provide solutions and technology to Vietnam.

Delegates at the event

At the seminar, Danish enterprises introduced technologies and solutions spanning the entire agri-food value chain, from animal feed, health, and welfare to food processing and biotechnology.

Experts focused on precision feeding solutions, farming methods based on data, heat-stress adaptation techniques, biological solutions, animal healthcare, cold-chain technology, and clean energy.

Lasse Pedersen Hjortshøj, Head of Trade and Investment at the Embassy of Denmark, stated that knowledge-sharing, expert exchange, and practical cooperation between businesses from both nations will support Vietnam toward more efficient, safe, and sustainable food production.

Denmark and Vietnam share a long-standing partnership in the agri-food sector, having implemented a strategic sector cooperation on food safety since 2017.

The seminar forms part of activities celebrating the 55th anniversary of both nations’ diplomatic relations, while bolstering cooperation in agriculture, food, and green transition.
