Located in the southern province of Dong Nai, the plant is Nippon Notebook's first overseas factory. The factory, which is slated to be put into operation in September, will manufacture workbooks and notebooks for Vietnam and other Asian countries, according to Kyodo News.
The factory covers an area of 3,024 square metres in Nhon Trach 3 Industrial Zone in Dong Nai. The project is overhauled by Nippon Notebook Vietnam Co. Ltd., a local subsidiary of Nippon Notebook that was established in January.
Nippon Notebook is injecting $5 million in its Vietnam operations by installing modern facilities to boost production, supply, and delivery speed. The factory aims to produce 27 million workbooks and notebooks annually by the end of 2022.
Its parent company Plus Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd. – a Plus subsidiary – also operates stationery plants in Bien Hoa and Nhon Trach in Dong Nai. Nippon Notebook decided to move into Vietnam after being assured of human resources and technical support by Plus Vietnam.
Nippon Notebook is among a number of Japanese companies to invest in Vietnam this year. In the first half of 2021, Japan was Vietnam's second-biggest foreign investor with the registered investment capital of $2.44 billion.
